How do I make a Booking?
Simply call our reservations number +61 (0)7 4069 5381, use our on-line booking form, or contact your Travel Agent. We will respond with a Booking Confirmation.
What are the cancellation fees?
Cancellation fees apply and will be charged as follows:
Cancellation received by Maaramaka Walkabout Tours:
- more than 14 days prior to departure: deposit returned in full.
- 2-13 days prior to departure: loss of deposit.
- within 48 hours of departure: 100% of tour cost
How do I pay?
General bookings - In order to secure your reservation, a 20% deposit is required at the time of booking, either by credit card, cheque or bank transfer.
Balances should be paid no later than 48 hours before your tour's departure. Payment can made:
- by bank transfer, or
- in person to our booking agent at Cooktown Booking Centre , Charlotte Street, Cooktown.
Please note that balances paid by credit card incur a 3% surcharge (including GST). Personal cheques can only be accepted if we receive the cheque more than 10 working days prior to departure.
Special tours, group bookings (10 or more people) and exclusive tours, require a 50% deposit at the time of booking, either by credit card, cheque or bank transfer. The balance should be paid no later than 14 days before departure.
I'd like to drive my own vehicle?
Self-drive customers should get instructions from the Cooktown Booking Centre. As the road is unsealed a 4wd is preferable owing to conditions of road especially during the wet weather.
Are there alcohol restrictions?
Yes, please do not carry alcohol in your vehicles or on your person.
When do tours depart & what is the cost?
RAINFOREST EXPERIENCE
Duration - 3 ½ hours total 10.00am - 1.30pm
Adults - $80.00 Children (4-12yrs) $45.00
AFTERNOON DELIGHT
Duration - 2 hours total 2.30pm - 4.30pm
Adults - $40.00 Children (4-12yrs) $30.00
What do I wear and bring?
It's more comfortable for you if you wear cool summer wear I.e. cotton t-shirts, shorts/long pants, hat with a brim and is important to wear covered shoes/joggers. Bring your camera/insect repellant/sunscreen and water.
Children?
Definitely……but make sure your children are supervised so that plants are not damaged and that they are not hurt in any way. The shorter half hour walk - Afternoon Delight , is probably better for very young children. Take note this does not include lunch. Afternoon Delight provides an afternoon tea instead. Please do not bring animals!
General Terms and Conditions
Maaramaka Walkabout Tours (hereinafter called the operator) operates in a remote area where facilities and services are either very limited or non-existent. In spite of the operator doing the best to provide tours as advertised. the weather or conditions of the road can present a operational or safety issue. This may disrupt or change itineraries but every reasonable effort will be made to keep to original tour times and the operator will thus not be liable for costs incurred through these changes or delay which may lead to failure to meet connecting services including but not limited to buses/flights. The operator will not be liable to pay any further compensation and also reserves the right to exclude those passengers that do not wear the appropriate footwear or if the passenger is deemed to be a health/safety risk to other customers or themselves or in the event of committing an illegal act. In this circumstance the operator is not liable to pay compensation whatsoever.
